Officinalis Isopods are from the Armadillo genus. They are reddish-brown with slightly darker rings. Officinalis red is a color mutation of Armadillo Officinalis which is a medium to large race of isopod that is dark grey in color. These isopods are the only land isopods that can vibrate and create a slight hissing noise.

*This description is the same as Armadillo Officinalis- Red due to the fact that the red was a mutation started in captivity.*

Armadillo Officinalis Isopods were discovered in 1816 by scientist Duméril. They are found today in France, Greece, and Spain. They have grown accustomed to Mediterranean climates so are used to higher humidity. These isopods like it slightly cooler than you'd normally see but not cold, and humidity is slightly higher but not over 80%.
